About Priority Health Northwest

The idea of Priority Health Northwest came about following the devastating flood that closed Crown Clinic. The loss of Crown Clinic hit the Spencer and surrounding area hard. The healthcare clinics that remained open following the flood could not absorb the number of patients that had their care displaced by the closing of Crown Clinic. Priority Health Northwest, staffed by the great people from Crown Clinic, opened not only to fill this need in the Spencer area but also to be able to continue to provide great medical care to the patients we cared for at Crown Clinic. Furthermore, it is our mission to enhance the lives of our patients and community by providing convenient access to high-quality, personalized healthcare.

Peyton Hantelman

Hi everyone! My name is Peyton Hantelman. I am a co-owner and provider at Priority Health Northwest in Spencer, Iowa.

I attended Presentation College in Aberdeen, SD, where I earned my RN, BSN in 2019, followed by my FNP, MSN in 2022.

Following graduation and completion of boards, I began working at Crown Clinics. I was employed there until its closure due to the 2024 flood. I loved my time at Crown Clinics and the people I met and cared for while I was there. I also loved the variety of appointments between acute and primary care and all the ways I can help others in this setting.

Outside of acute and primary care, I own PRO Aesthetics, a creative additive to my practice. I have obtained several certifications from the American Academy of Facial Esthetics and specialize in neurotoxins, dermal fillers, and PDO threads. I am excited to bring these services to Spencer. Lastly, I am certified in Biote Hormone Replacement, and will soon be offering this in Spencer as well!

When I am not working, I can be found spending time outdoors or traveling with my husband and family, exercising, or doing something creative.

Jay Downing

Hello, everyone! I’m Jay Downing, co-owner and provider at Priority Health Northwest in Spencer, Iowa. I bring over 20 years of experience in the healthcare field, serving in various roles such as medic, registered nurse, and nurse practitioner.

Here’s a bit about my journey:
I served as a combat medic in the Iowa National Guard and later as a nurse in the Army Nurse Corps.

Currently, I work part-time as a clinical nursing instructor at ILCC, a role I’ve proudly held for four years.

My experience as a nurse practitioner includes working in the emergency room and with an orthopedic practice, both of which I greatly enjoyed.

My favorite role? Being a provider at Crown Clinics for 9 years, where I had the privilege of offering family and acute care and building long-term relationships with my patients. I’m a Northwest Iowa native, having graduated from Okoboji High School. I’ve been married to my wonderful wife, Pam, for 29 years. Together, we cherish spending time with our children and granddaughter, exploring new places, and enjoying the great outdoors through walking, hiking, biking, and kayaking.

I’m passionate about providing personalized care to our community and am excited to continue serving patients at Priority Health Northwest.
